(www.sooyoungro.org) was founded by Rev. Jung, Phil-do in 1975, with a vision for the evangelization of Busan and South Korea and a strong calling for world missions. Now, under the leadership of senior pastor Rev. Lee, Kyu-hyun, Sooyoungro church is moving forward with greater influence in Busan, all throughout Korea, and around the world.
Our commitment to world missions is still going strong, currently sending and supporting around 300 missionaries in 80 countries around the world.
Pastor Rev. Gyu Hyun Lee pioneered the Sydney Saesoon Presbyterian Church which grew into the largest Korean church (5,000 attendance) for 19 years. In 2011, he was appointed as the senior pastor of the Sooyoungro Church. Under his leadership the church has grown threefold over the past decade.
Sooyoungro Church is the one of largest churches in S. Korea. It is a mega-church with 50,000 enrolled members, 25,000 people in attendance each Sunday, and a 46-year long tradition. The church has 130 ministers and 80 staff employees. The church has sent out 300 missionaries to 80 countries around the world. Sooyoungro Church serves not just the Busan region, but Korea, and the world.
Pastor Lee is the chairman of KWMA, ARILAC, and the Busan Holy City Movement Headquarters. Serving as a school director for Handong University, ACTS, Chongshin University, he is influencing Christianity and Christian education in Korea. He is also an avid writer with 25 published works.
